In Milliken, nurseries are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Colorado, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Check the listing for hours, seasonal closures and Google rating before you go.

Milliken is in Colorado, in the Mountain West, where the high elevation brings cold snowy winters, warm dry summers and big day-to-night temperature swings; ski and summer tourist seasons shape opening hours in resort towns. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Milliken follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Very helpful, professional and kind employees. Only bought healthy and happy house plants but the selection is good and have always had beautiful flowers. Never any problems with staff or plants. Thank you for your care and kindness!!

Every year for my birthday, May 4th, my husband and our two boys take me on a nursery tour around Northern Colorado. This year, we happened to visit Mountain Garden Roots. I've visited countless nurseries in the past decade, all beautiful with their flower-filled surroundings. But this one held a certain charm that captivated me! It's packed with a wide variety of plants, flowers, veggies, and growing supplies, all arranged in an organized and spacious layout. Two employee pups wander around, sniffing flowers with calm and cute expressions. The human employees are also wonderful; they're friendly and informative! Dave, the older gentleman working that day, gave me far more information about my shade garden (or lack thereof, because honestly, shade gardens are tricky without the right plants) than Google ever managed! I left feeling like I'd finally achieve my goal of having a successful shade garden after many attempts. My talk with Dave made me feel like a master gardener. You really gotta check this little gem out for yourself!! Happy planting everyone π±ππ«π·πΌπͺ΄

We had a large list of plants needed for a xeriscape front yard. Dave and Chris at Mountain Roots Gardens were super helpful and helped us find all the plants on our list. What would have taken us hours took about 15 minutes with their help. They were also very knowledgeable on the plants, which was very much appreciated. The plants also looked healthy and well taken care of, with lots of options. We would highly recommend this place and it will definitely be our go to place for plants.

I've wanted to visit this garden nursery for awhile and today I finally made it there. My sons and I were really impressed. They have an amazing selection of plants (cacti, house plants, shrubs, trees, veggies, succulents, herbs, annuals, perennials, bags of soil amendments, mulch, grass seed, etc) all well organized and laid out beautifully. Plus they have many cute and useful garden assessories/tools. The staff was friendly, helpful and AVAILABLE! We felt like the prices were typical for independent garden nurseries. We really enjoyed just walking around and seeing all of their selection. I will definitely be going back!

First time visitor impressions-- it's cute and seems bigger on the inside. The people doing all the work are friendly and helpful and know things. They might have more petunias than I have ever seen in my life-- so if you want those, this is the place! Now about prices--I am not sure where the reviews that said " oh they have such great prices" came from. 4.25" plants seem to be $8.99 on April 11, 2026. Right now at Home Depot-- same size plant but sometimes smaller container-- depending on kind of plant-- are 3 for $12. So $4 for each plant. That is a savings of $5 per plant. It's a big difference if you need to buy lots of plants and Home Depot has the plants you need. Having said that, the 4.25" plant I bought at Mountain Roots is "Red Birds in a Tree"-- and you can't get that at any of the big box stores.
